The book, The Titan's Curse, by Rick Riordan is a great book that really stretches your imagination. This book, along with the rest of the series, is humorous, adventurous, and at some parts sad. The series is about Greek Mythology, so there is a variety of different stories and adventures that are told. I would definitely recommend it for kids who have a passion for historical and fictional stories, just like Rick Riordan's oldest son, Haley.
Riordan came up with the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief, because he started telling bedtime stories to Haley. Of corse, considering Riordan was a historical teacher at the time, he knew almost all there is to Greek Mythology. He came up with his first character, Percy. After Riordan had finished telling his story, Haley begged his father to put it together as a book and at the time, Haley was 15 years old. Being 15 and enjoying a children's novel, shows that Riordan's series is a big hit. Along with being The New York Times #1 best-selling series, I would definitely recommend Percy Jackson & The Olympians.
